The Inner Space Counselling practice was founded by Claire Daplyn in 2014 in central Tunbridge Wells with a view to providing easy access to therapy for individuals, couples and teens seeking support for a full range of emotional, relational and psychological issues. Nancy Dalton and Leonie Cowl joined the practice in 2017, bringing their specialist skills in counselling and psychotherapy to support increasing demand for local therapeutic services .

Claire Daplyn

I work with individuals, couples and teens experiencing a range of issues and specialise in trauma, anxiety & grief therapy.

I help people heal from horrible experiences such as sexual abuse, domestic violence, PTSD, car accidents and so on. I also help those who've experienced terrible losses to heal & move forward.

I work from a central and secure Tunbridge Wells location and offer my clients the opportunity to work collaboratively with me in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) and UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysis) and European Association of Transactional Analysis (EATA). I work in accordance with the Codes of Ethics and Professional Practice of these professional bodies.

My experience includes working with couples, adults and teenagers, in both private practice and voluntary settings, covering a broad range of issues. In addition to my 4 year Diploma in Transactional Analysis Practice, I have additional specialised training in Couples and Relationships, Trauma and Recovery, Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement and Chronic Illness and Attachment Disorders.

I have extensive experience of working;

  • In both voluntary and private practice settings working with a wide variety of men, women, teenagers and couples.
  • With traumatised individuals to help them heal from horrific experiences.
  • In both a hospice and cancer drop-in centre working with individuals and their families suffering from chronic illness.
  • With bereaved individuals who have experienced terrible losses.
  • With parents and teachers at schools in the Medway area focused on supporting troubled young people; helping them to shed the expectations of others and make their own decisions with confidence and clarity.

Nancy Dalton

I provide counselling and psychotherapy to adults and couples with a range of difficulties and believe all people have the capacity to change in order to achieve satisfaction and happiness in their lives.

Sometimes life can be stressful and overwhelming. People can often experience a sense of isolation in dealing with problems and how they are feeling – and this is normal. I work to help people to understand their experiences, listen and offer support to find solutions to cope, move forward and live a more fulfilling life.

My experience includes working in voluntary and private practice covering a wide range of issues. In addition to my 3 years training for a counselling Diploma in Transactional Analysis and Psychotherapy, I have training and experience working with people to heal through traumatic and life changing experiences, addiction, cancer, bereavement, loss, anxiety and depression.

I have extensive experience of working with:

  • Alcohol and drug addiction
  •  Depression and anxiety
  • The impact and healing following relationship break-up and divorce
  • Coping with bereavement and loss.
  • Self confidence and low self esteem issues
  • Couples
