Finding a counsellor that is right for you is a very personal decision. We believe that positive therapeutic outcomes are primarily built upon the quality of relationship between therapist and client so it is important that you feel like you can have a good working relationship with whoever you choose to work with. Feel free to meet with as many therapists as you need to until you find the one which feels like a good fit for you!

Our therapeutic background is in Transactional Analysis (TA), although we also incorporate some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques into our work where appropriate. Transactional Analysis centres on the roles you use to communicate with yourself and others and offers tools to support you in making life changes.

Transactional Analysis is also a contractual method of therapy. This means that we will work closely together during our first few sessions to determine what changes you would like to make in your life as a result of attending therapy. Periodically we will review this therapeutic contract in order to ensure that we are consistently working towards the goals you have determined for yourself.

Please know that it is perfectly normal not to know exactly what it is you'd like to get from your therapy at the start. If this is the case for you then we will simply begin with whatever has bought you to therapy right now at this moment and build from there.

We work relationally which means that we will often reflect back to you how we experience the relationship between us as client/therapist with a view to informing you about how you may be experienced by others in relationships outside the therapy room. We also encourage clients to share their own experience of the therapeutic relationship as openly and honestly as possible.

Typically we work weekly with clients until they reach their goal. Therapy sessions last for 50 minutes for individuals and 60 minutes for couples.

We run an online booking system which means that you will receive automated email and/or SMS appointment reminders for your therapy sessions if you would like them.
